In a world of rapid change, global crises, and technologies reshaping our lives faster than we can adapt, Future Tense Copenhagen brings together leading futurists, innovators, and thinkers with one goal – not just to show where we are heading, but how we can actively shape a “good future.”
Participants will gain insights into the key trends shaping our world towards 2030, practical perspectives on the impact of artificial intelligence, geopolitical shifts, and the transformation of health, as well as inspiration for decision-making and spotting opportunities even in uncertain times.
What makes this conference truly different is its holistic view of the future. Because the future is not only about technology or geopolitics – it is about human choices, values, and the ability to recognise opportunities amidst challenges.

DESIGNING AND CREATING THE GOOD FUTURE: WHAT, HOW, WHO AND WHEN - THE WORLD BY 2030.
Right now, "The Good Future" may seem like an oxymoron or an almost laughably naive idea, as we are being showered with bad news on a daily basis, as old friends turn into new enemies while much hard-earned progress is being reversed. In this talk Gerd will share what lies beyond the current chaos, show how things might get better (after they get worse) and explain what new roles Europe can play. Riffing off Kevin Kelly, Gerd proposed that while we may not have less challenges we certainly have more capacity to solve them - we 'just' need to improve our 'telos' as much as we improve our tools!

NEW WORLD ORDER
The global balance of power is shifting as democracy strains and technological leadership becomes more contested. China’s rise coincides with growing Western introspection and fragmented alliances. Yet amid this turmoil lies opportunity. The rigid structures of the 20th century are loosening, and the ice has broken from decades of institutional inertia. For Europe in particular, this is a moment to redefine its role—not as a passive bystander, but as an active architect of a plural, resilient, and principled world order. As U.S.–China rivalry raises the risk of a Thucydides Trap, the space between poles opens up—for those bold enough to shape it.

DO WE DARE TO RE-IMAGINE BUSINESS AS USUAL IN AN AI-MEDIATED WORLD?
What if reality is starting to outpace our imagination? As AI and emerging technologies is constantly pushing the boundaries of what we thought was possible, we’re not just tweaking the edges of our systems – we might be entering an AI-mediated world that challenges the very foundations of how we work, communicate, and create value. In this session, Sofie Hvitved invites us to pause and ask: What if we reimagined our organisations not through today’s models - but from first principles, the way disruptive tech companies do? What would business-as-usual look like if it was designed for the third horizon - for a future that doesn’t yet exist?
Drawing from the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies’ latest work on exploring the futures of technology, this session explores 10 key trends shaping our current trajectory together with the deeper question is: What comes next - if we dare to reimagine it?"
